christmas

The day we all had been waiting for was finally here! This year was especially fun because we were spending Christmas morning with just our little family, the kid's ages are perfect and Olivia is getting older, which means Christmas for her could change in the upcoming years. So this really could have been our very last year of Christmas innocence. It was a perfect morning.

The kid's last Christmas present was a little video Tyler and I put together......A SURPRISE TRIP TO PEURTO VALLARTA, MEXICO! I think they were first in shock about how awesome their parents are behind a camera (and guitar) (and maraca) and then they were so excited!!! We are all so excited.
And then we got a phone call from Tyler's Dad... He called to say that several people were now sick at the house! There would be no togetherness or dinner as planned. Are you serious? We had split up Christmas dinner and I had given them the turkey on Christmas Eve so it could be cooking all day. Aaaah! Well Tyler's Dad met Tyler half way to give us back the turkey and we had to make due with what our half of dinner was suppose to be. I have never cooked a turkey. I've never needed to. I wasn't planning on it until my 40's. I was pleasantly surprised about how not hard it was with a little youtube. It turned out yummy too! Tyler's Dad and brother John left all the sickies to come have dinner with us. It actually turned out to be a very relaxing Christmas at home with our little family!

*I am now a true believer of the flu shot/mist. I don't usually care whether or not we get the flu shot but this year we did. All six of us did. And we were not touched by the flu. It was crazy to see everyone who didn't get the shot get really really sick and all the people who did, didn't. I will now always get it!

Tyler's Mom never completely got better her whole trip to Utah. She left back to Cali where she finally went back into the Dr. and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Poor thing. This flu was a crazy one. I'm so glad she is finally on meds and feeling better after 4 weeks of suffering!

EVE

We had Christmas break all planned out. We were going to spend it with Tyler's Sister Stephanie and her family, plus we got Grandma, Grandpa Dabo and Uncle John in town! We were all so excited and the cousins couldn't wait.

Well all the excitement started to plummet quickly. Grandma Dabo got sick! Like really really sick. Grandma was staying with Stephanie and so I didn't know what to do? Do everything planned and risk getting sick (probably on Christmas) or try to stay away??? We decided to try to stay away as much as we could bare it. And we headed downtown for some fun without the cousins. It was fun but also a bummer.

We were hoping Grandma would get better quickly but she didn't. She went to the Instacare and was diagnosed with Influenza B (which is the worst and super contagious). Christmas EVE came and we just couldn't stay away from the cousins. So everyone except Grandma came over for our little tradition, cookies and jammies! We had a great time. These 10 cousins are ALL the same ages and have the best time together!

We started youngest to oldest opening their one present on EVE.
