Just another boring zoo post. 

Alex is at the perfect age for the zoo. He loves animals and dinosaurs. They have both right now. On the way he kept saying zoo zoo! Like he even knew what a zoo was.

Tyler took a half day so we didn't have to fight Saturday crowds and Esther slept THE entire time of course so it ended up being a perfect day.

That's my boy!

Alex has seen a lot of boobie around the house lately so I was not surprised.

Stupid Stork

When Esther was born these marks immediately appeared on her eyelids and forehead. The Dr.'s told me it was called a "stork bite" and they are super common. And then they said they will just fade away. Awesome I thought. Then they said but it may take up to 2 years. What the, 2 years! I was sort of bummed at first. I don't really like marks on my beautiful baby's face. (Even though someone else I know also had the marks and they were worse. ME!) Mother like Daughter I guess. Anyways they have already faded some but I definitely still notice them and I can't wait until they are gone! 

When we were in Midway over the 4th weekend there was this little boy. A little boy that was seriously handicapped and in a wheelchair. Then there was this little girl. With some serious scoliosis. Her poor back was so messed up. So I look down at my 2 week old with these very minor marks that will disappear soon and I feel really bad and really blessed. I will never feel bummed about any of my kid's imperfections again. All 4 of my kids are very healthy and beautiful.

We usually go to Boise for every 4th of July. But this year with having a newby we decided to stay home. Well kind of. 

(My worst enemy is boredom. Seriously I hate to be bored. And even more I hate when my kids are bored and they let me know it over and over all day long. So when I got an email for The Homestead in Midway and all the fun things they have for the kids over the 4th weekend, I said lets give it a try!)

This was our first reality of being a family of 6. Packing for all of us for 2 days was my first reality. But I am so glad we went.

It was so nice to get away for just a weekend and have things for the kids to do. Plus Esther just slept the whole weekend. Midway is one of my favorite get-a-way spots.

So Drew wanted to do the dunk tank, which held one of the owners of Homestead. The lady helper told Drew to scoot up, because he's smaller. Tyler said oh no he's fine where he is. I rolled my eyes and thought, Tyler you think your son is hot stuff. First throw and Drew nails the target! Everyone cheered. Drew may be in a small package but he is one amazing athlete.

And his life changed forever.....

Poor Alex. He didn't even know what was coming. When Esther came that is. We thought he would take it extremely hard and poke her eyes out. BUT that hasn't been the case AT ALL. Actually he has been exactly opposite of what we thought. He LOVES his little sister. Has NEVER shown any kind of jealousy or aggression towards her. He is so SOFT, loves to KISS her and SMELL her. We couldn't be more happy with the outcome. 

A couple days ago, Alex came up to the baby, stroked her head and said SISSY. Almost brought me to tears. For a child who doesn't say much, that was the sweetest word I've ever heard him say. So he now calls her sissy all the time, like I do. It's too cute. I hope they grow to be best of friends like Liv and Drew.

Esther's first 2 weeks home

Esther is such a sweet baby. From birth she has only gotten up once at night to feed. Which has been a life saver. Plus she sleeps well during the day. She's lazy. 

We had both Grandma's here to help. My Mom was here for a week and Tyler's Mom stayed for 2 weeks. Good thing they like each other! They even (almost) shared the queen bed in the guest room. That would have been the best picture.

Esther did have Jaundice and was under lights the last day in the hospital. Then they had the lights waiting for us when we got home from the hospital. I hate those lights! Drew also had jaundice so I think Tyler and I carry something. We had the lights for a few days. I was glad to see those lights go. 

The big kids and Dad are completely in LOVE with this new little girl.

And of course the first sponge bath.

It was a wonderful first 2 weeks and a great transition.
